Punta Blanca Golf Course Review

Punta Blanca is an amazing course that takes advantage of the natural landscape of jungle and wetlands. Nick Price loves to build golf courses that give golfers lots of options. The fun part about options is that it forces you to make decisions constantly on the course. Many holes deliver great risk-reward golf shots that tempt you to step outside of yourself.

Punta Blanca golf course features two par 3 island greens surrounded by natural vegetation that create a great test of golf. Most of the par 4s and 5s also allow you to either fly the ball to the hole or try to run it up to the green. Keep in mind while playing the course that Nick Price is one of the most strategic players to ever play the game and considers decision making the most important part of the game.

When I played the course just after its opening in the Spring of 2007, I gave in to every temptation on the front nine. I tried to fly the ball to the hole every time and took every risk offered on the par fives. On the back I laid up on every par five and ran the ball onto several of the scarier looking approaches. I was a full ten strokes better on the back!

Punta Blanca Golf Course Scorecard

Punta Blanca is a beast from the Black tees, sitting at 7174 yards. There are some longer carries from back there and these tees should really only be played by single digit handicaps. The blue and white tees offer great variety for tourists and are not quite as exhausting.
